1st: The Shroud of Turin was carbon dated from 1260AD to 1390AD. But, there
is a problem. The material that was used to do the carbon dating came from the material
that had been used to make some repairs to some damage that had been caused by fire.
The material used to do the repairs had been made in the Sixteenth Century.
The original material of the Burial Cloth has never been dated.
2nd: The
original material of the cloth was made using a 3 to 1 Herringbone pattern
that was found only in exceptionally fine linen. This pattern was only used from
40BC to 70AD, during Rome in it's prime. It was never used again after
this time period.
3rd: There is an unusually strong refusal to allow any further
testing to be done on the Shroud.
4th: The exact methods and tools used by the
Romans in carrying out crucifixions was only recently rediscovered. So, until a few
years ago no one would have known exactly how and with what instruments the Romans
used to carry out a crucifixion. [This is included because it has been said that
a crucifixion was carried out long after the Roman Empire had ended in order to provide
evidence of the crucifixion and ascension of Jesus Christ].
5th: [Scripture
says that God would not allow the bones of His son to be broken up].
It was
asked of Pilate to break the legs of those crucified during the crucifixion of Jesus
to speed up their death because of the upcoming Sabbath. The Roman soldiers broke
the legs of the common criminals crucified on either side of Jesus and were on their
way to break His legs. He died just before they got there and that is when they punctured
His side with the spear and both Blood and Water ran out. Pilate was
taken by surprise when told that Jesus had already died when the man came requesting
His body for burial.
6th: The image on the Shroud suffered al of the wounds
that scripture says Jesus did.
7th: The image on the Shroud had no broken
bones.
8th: The image on the Shroud bore the wounds from a Crown of
Thorns.
